The Divine Union of Mars and Venus
Once, when I was in Paris exploring the Lourve, I found myself drawn to a particular painting from across the room. As I approached the joyous celebration of the union between Mars and Venus depicted in Parnassus (Mantega, 1497), I felt a sense of peace. To me, it represented my own internal struggle and understanding of my masculine and feminine energies, Mars and Venus, and the moment in which I found the balance, the divine union, between the two polar energies that have been pulling me in different directions throughout my life. The Divine Union represents the peace found in balance- the ability to be everything all at once.
